Myanmar fonts on the G1

Post Views:

Update Oct 9: New file with zawgyi font.

If you own the Google T-Mobile G1 phone (or HTC Dream) and you are from Myanmar, then here is a quick update file that is completely harmless to add the Myanmar fonts to your device without hassle.  Follow the instructions in this recent post of mine.

Don't worry its exactly the same procedure you only need the correct update file from RapidShare or MediaFire.

Thanks to thihaz from xda-developers.

One day I'm gonna visit Myanmar :)

Hi buddy,

Thanks for the update.
Can you upload the file to other file sharing websites like mediafire.com or zshare or 4shared.com ?

Thanks again.

Hi,

Do me a favour?

Can you help me to add other Myanmar fonts into your font update?

If it will take too much of your time, let it be then.

Thanks.

Hi Thihaz,

Sure no problem. But which font from the pack should I chose? Because we normally replace the FallBack font only.

Hi,

Oh you mean in your update.zip, you just included zawgyi font, you just change the name from zawgyi.ttf to FallBack.ttf?

If so, let it be then because I thought you merged zawgyi font with the dejavu font :D.

Sorry I am zero knowledge on editing fonts.

The problem is because there are many Myanmar websites, most of them are using zawgyi font generally but there are some websites they don't use zawgyi font, they use other Myanmar fonts. So when I browse those websites, I just see rubbish :D .

anyway, thanks.
Cheers,

Hi,

What you did is rename the myanmar font to fallback and replace it? or you merged the myanmar font with the dejavu font, rename it and replace it?

Thanks.

Gus said...

No just rename it.

I'm sorry I have been very busy. I will do it for you today.

Hi,

I have tried it.
I still cannot see some myanmar websites which used other myanmar fonts.
What I want is mixing dejavu + zawgyi+ other myanmar fonts but I don't think it can.

Anyway, thanks for your time.

Best,
Thihaz

Yes its a problem. Unless you find a font that includes all your Myanmar fonts, it will be difficult. Because I'm only replacing one font in the G1. I will try doing one thing, I will try replacing the main font as well. But not sure how would this work.
